I know for each life, Lord, You’ve prewritten a book
Filled with varied pages for my life day by day,
Though I can elect to change Your pre-ordained will,
I just hope I fulfill Your wishes on my way,
Did I live up to what You’d written on my page?
So I ask You at day’s end, Lord, how did I do
With my page today? Did I live it just as I should?
Making Your each page for me come alive in truth?
I know You give us choices, but as I make mine
I still want them to be as You’d have me to live;
Did I speak in love and do compassionate things?
Did I let You shine through me and did I forgive?
Could people recognize Your presence within me?
Did I take any steps toward change I need to take?
Lord, help me to live each page of life You grant me
Just as You would have it from the moment I wake.
Then at time’s end as I stand humbly before You,
When I am transformed to belong to the ages,
At the end of my book and life as I knew it,
I’ll ask again, “How did I do on my pages?”
