Zion Historical Society Brings Back Historic Buildings
Sandy Dickson
This is the first of the annual releases by the Zion Historical Society of historical Zion buildings.
Each one, crafted by My World Cat’s Meow in Wooster, Ohio, is skillfully painted to appear as a three-dimensional replica of whichever building it is depicting. The company habitually adds its trademark cat somewhere in each of its paintings. These buildings are guaranteed to bring back nostalgic memories to those who lived through the days those structures were thriving and help those whose memories don’t go back that far, to vicariously touch a bit of Zion history.
Besides the expert paintings on the front, the back of each piece of the colorful flat wooden depictions gives a brief history of the building in the painting. A new building will be introduced each year around late summer or early fall, with the others still remaining available for purchase to give people a chance to start or enhance their collection. It’s a perfect gift or item for a Christmas village!
The first one has just been introduced; the Shiloh House before the second story balcony and white front porch were added by the second owners in later years. All will continue to be available at the Shiloh House for $20. Other notable historical buildings will follow in subsequent years.
